Download or Restore a Previous Document Version

You can download and restore a previous document version from within the application for Dropbox, Box, and CosmoLex Native Storage App.

Important: When you upload an updated version of the same document under the same name, CosmoLex automatically creates a version history.

From Matter Details

To download or restore a previous document version:

  1. From the left navigation panel, click Matters.
  2. On the Matters screen, double-click a matter or single-click it, click on the three dots to the far right of the row and from the drop-down, click View.
  3. From the tabs atop the Matters Summary section, click Documents.
  4. In the Documents screen, single-click the applicable subfolder.
    The subfolder’s contents display in the section below.
  5. Select the file, click on the three dots at the top right and from the drop-down, click Version.
  1. On the Version History screen, select the document to highlight it.
  2. Take the desired action:
    • Download the Document
      1. Click Download.
        The system downloads the document to your default download location.
    • Restore the Document
      1. Click Restore.
        The Restore Document message box reads: Are you sure you want to restore the document to version (#)?
      2. Click Yes.
        The Restore Document message box reads: Document has been restored.
      3. Click OK.

From Documents

Important: Google Drive, OneDrive and OneDrive for Business users: Microsoft and Google do not expose versioning APIs. To access prior versions, you need to use your OneDrive or Google Drive account.

To download or restore a previous document version:

  1. From the left navigation panel, click Documents.
  2. On the Documents screen, single-click the applicable matter’s folder.
    The matter’s folder structure displays.
  3. Click the subfolder within which the document is located.
    The folder’s contents display on the right half of the screen.
  4. Select the file, click on the three dots at the top right and from the drop-down, click Versions.
  5. On the Version History screen, select the document to highlight it.
  6. Take the desired action:
    • Download the Document
      1. Click Download.
        The system downloads the document to your default download location.
    • Restore the Document
      1. Click Restore.
        The Restore Document message box reads: Are you sure you want to restore the document to version (#)?
      2. Click Yes.
        The Restore Document message box reads: Document has been restored.
      3. Click OK.
